REP. BALDERSON TO TOUR NEW LABORATORY FACILITY IN HEATH

HEATH, OHIO — The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority will host U.S. Representative Troy Balderson for a tour of a new laboratory of Neurxstem on the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center in Heath on Friday, August 14, 2020. The Port Authority is hosting the visit as a chance to show off new technology development at its campus in Heath.

Neurxstem received a Small Business grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIDA) under the Congressional HEAL initiative for developing Diagnostics and Therapeutic counter measures for the Opioid Crisis. Neurxstem is expected to discuss its latest breakthrough on COVID-19 Pandemic related infection of the human brain, and its new effort to reduce COVID-19 infections and mortality from severe acute respiratory distress.

Media are invited to take part in the briefing and tour. The visit begins at 2:15 p.m. and is expected to conclude in less than an hour.

HEATH, OHIO – The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority has scheduled a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, for Tuesday, July 21 at 3:30 p.m. The public meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Port Authority offices at 851 Irving Wick Drive West, Heath, Ohio. The Committee is expected to review the FY19 unaudited financial statement and discuss financial policy updates.

Committee meetings are open to the public.

PORT AUTHORITY 25TH ANNIVERSARY VIRTUAL CELEBRATION ANNOUNCED

HEATH, OHIO – The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority has scheduled a special meeting of the Board of Directors, for Monday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will be held as a virtual meeting and be broadcast live on the Port Authority Facebook page at Facebook.com/OhioPortAuthority.

The purpose of the special meeting is to mark the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the May 18, 1995 signing of the agreement between Heath, Newark, and Licking County which created the Port Authority. The Board is expected to consider action on a single resolution and remarks from Chairman Steve Layman and CEO Rick Platt. The celebration will conclude with a tomato juice toast in the virtual setting.

The Board meetings are open to the public. Due to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be made available on Facebook Live.

PORT AUTHORITY ANNUAL D.C. FLY-IN TO CAPITOL HILL SET

Public-Private Delegation Brings Defense Jobs-Focused Agenda
HEATH –The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority will lead a contingent of public and private officials to Washington, D.C. to meet with key members and staff of the Ohio Congressional Delegation. The event is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26.

A 10-person public-private contingent will meet with 12th Congressional District Representative Troy Balderson in his Capitol Hill office and which is expected to include others with the Central Ohio Congressional Delegation. Meetings in the offices of U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman are also scheduled.

The purpose of the day is to better acquaint Ohio’s Congressional Delegation with the status of key military work at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center. The 58-year legacy of deterrent workload and modernization of the Air Force Primary Standards Laboratory are key issue points.

Officials from major employers at the Port Authority’s Aerospace Center campus—Boeing, Bionetics, and Defense Engineering Services Group—are attending along with local leaders, including City of Heath Mayor Mark Johns, Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb, Licking County Treasurer Oliva Parkinson, Licking County Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer McDonald, and Port Authority CEO Rick Platt.

HEATH, OHIO – The Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority has scheduled a meeting of the Planning Committee of the Board of Directors, for Monday, February 3 at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the boardroom of the Port Authority offices at 851 Irving Wick Drive West, Heath, Ohio. The Committee is expected to review submittals for a safety stair tower project, review submittals for protective covenants, and consider a draft capital plan update.
