LIKE WATCHING PAINT DRY?  DOOR REPLACEMENT CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Post 3 of the Boeing Guidance Repair Center is seeing new doors installed today.  The on-Base WeatherCam captured the event throughout the day.  An otherwise boring project is made interesting by the fact that so many people pass through them every day.  The doors replace existing systems that had become rusted, unattractive, and dysfunctional.  Local contractor Claggett & Sons was awarded the contract in December 2003 with local subcontractor Richardson Glass performing work today.  GO TO:  http://OnTheBase.com/weather/cam.shtml

LIKE ACCOUNTING?  PORT AUTHORITY HAS CLEAN FINANCIAL AUDIT

Another thing normally thought to be boring is worth mentioning too.  The most recent state audit of the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority was completed with flying colors.  The Port Authority handled over 1,200 transactions during the two-year audit period involving over $5.1 million in expenses and with no audit findings.  As always, state audit results are reported online by the Office of the Auditor of State, who is responsible for government audits.   GO TO:  http://www.auditor.state.oh.us/auditsearch/

THE PANHANDLE RAILROAD:  IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT

With the theme “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” the Port Authority is joining forces with leaders in other counties across Ohio from Franklin to Jefferson to protect the public interest on the state-owned Panhandle Rail Line.  The line runs east-west from Columbus to the Ohio River.  A major rail spur off the line passes through Port Authority land and The Base campus.    GO TO:  http://PortAuthorityUSA.com/panhandle
