ONLINE AUCTION SYSTEM HIGHLIGHTED

Since July 2003, the Port Authority has sold over $35,000 in excess property online.  2003 was the best year for excess property sales in the Port Authority’s nine-year history.  The Port Authority sold everything from a fire truck (sold to a small fire department in Alabama) to 76 gallons of lime green paint (sold to someone in Tennessee).   Some are upset that the on-Base social event of the year, the annual outdoor auction, is now gone for good, but the move online has been beneficial overall.  It has helped reduce storage needs and reduce the moving around of items while bringing in more revenue for the Port Authority.  Barely a day goes by that there isn’t something up for sale.  The “Auction Alert” ensures interested buyers are the first to know when a new item has been listed.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/auction

NEW AD UNVEILED

The Port Authority, now embracing use of the nickname “The Base” to refer to the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center, has placed an ad in a publication highlighting life in Licking County.  The ad will be in the annual progress edition of The Advocate and several sister publications in Licking County later this month.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/graphics/ad0304.gif

LICKING COUNTY FEELS THE IMPACT

With an over $50 million payroll and tenants/personnel paying more than $1.1 million in local taxes in 2003, The Base continues to have an impact on the local economy.   See the updated fact sheet with impact data.   GO TO:  http://COATC.com/news/2004impact.pdf
