PROJECT REPORT:  OVER $1.2 MILLION IN CAPITAL PROJECTS IN 2004

From roads to roofs and from water lines to parking spaces, a wide array of capital projects are on the radar screen for the Port Authority in 2004.   The most visible project will be replacement and repair of doorways at various points on Building 4 (Boeing Building), including the main entrances, which is slated to start yet this winter.  An important project for future development is the extension of Kaiser Drive from St. Rt. 79 to a center point on the COATC South Campus, opening up more than 120 acres of vacant property for development.  Engineers are designing two water line projects, the road extension, and the west side parking lot reconfiguration in time for construction this summer.   GO TO:  http://COATC.com/project

FOREIGN TRADE ZONE APPROVED

It’s now official.  COATC has a port of entry for import and export of goods.  Foreign-Trade Zone status has been approved for 49 acres on the COATC’s new South Campus.  The FTZ is an extension of general purpose FTZ #138 (Rickenbacker).  The FTZ is an added incentive for global trade companies to join the COATC family and locate on the 350-acre campus. Local, state, and federal tax benefits are available to companies located in a general purpose FTZ.  The COATC.com web site includes more details on the benefits, including a downloadable calculator to help determine the benefits for a prospective company.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/ftz

FOR LEASE—ONE 160 FOOT TALL WATER TOWER

Wireless is not just a fad, it’s the future.  With wireless telecommunications comes transmitters of all sorts—cell towers, wireless internet, and more.  The Port Authority believes that the 160’ tall COATC water tower, prominent on the west side of the COATC Base campus, makes an ideal location for such wireless antennae.  Marketing of the water tower is underway for some time with some takers starting to take a more serious look.  Among the information provided to prospective lessors is a 360º degree view from the top of the water tower taken last week.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/tower
