NOW, REAL-TIME WEATHER CAM

In November, the Port Authority launched a web site updating the weather conditions on the COATC Campus when it happens, where it happens.  Now, since just before Christmas, the weather page now includes a weather cam.  The camera, mounted near the COATC water tower, shows real-time views of weather conditions for all to see.  The camera uploads an updated photo every 15 minutes to COATC.com.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/weather/

FEDERAL RETIREES GROUP CHOOSES COATC FOR MONTHLY MEETINGS

The Heath News reports that the Licking County Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) has chosen the COATC Conference Center as its new meeting place for monthly meetings and COATC tenant Aramark to cater its meetings.  The idea for COATC hosting NARFE came out of a Port Authority tour held with former Base employees this Summer.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/conference

PORT AUTHORITY EXPANDS WORK “OUTSIDE THE GATES”

At year end, the Port Authority completed a $9 million bond issue for Licking Memorial Hospital as part of a capital equipment lease transaction with Bank One.  The bond issue was the first use of the Port Authority’s bond financing capability and the first major project undertaken by the Port Authority in Newark.  It is hoped that the bond issue establishes a trend as many port authorities in Ohio routinely put their financial capacity to use for economic development projects.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/news/LMHSTEFRA2003.pdf

FOREIGN TRADE ZONE APPROVAL IMMINENT

Official word is expected any day now on approval of Foreign-Trade Zone status for 49 acres on the COATC South Campus.  The FTZ is an extension of general purpose FTZ #138 (Rickenbacker).  The Port Authority expects to secure the extension through an agreement with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, operators of FTZ#138, with approval by the Foreign Trade Zone Board and the U.S. Department of Commerce.  The FTZ is an added incentive for global trade companies to join the COATC family and locate on the 350-acre campus. Local, state, and federal tax benefits are available to companies located in a general purpose FTZ.  The COATC.com web site includes more details on the benefits.  GO TO:  http://COATC.com/ftz
