HEATH--Miami University Ohio Public Leader Fellow, David Goon, will unveil his report on the opportunities in the Opportunity Zone in Central Licking County Wednesday to the Port Authority.

Media are invited to attend Wednesday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority administrative building at 851 Irving Wick Drive West, Heath.

Opportunity zones are a federal designation brought about by the 2017 tax reform act. A designated zone in Central Licking County encompasses manufacturing areas, including Port Authority owned property in Heath and Union Township. The Port Authority has dubbed it the “Manufacturing Opportunity Zone” to differentiate the zone. Miami University’s Ohio Public Leader Fellowship program places a Miami University student with a host for the month of January with a focus on a project providing community benefits to the host community.
