MISTRAS GROUP BREAKS GROUND ON $5.2 MILLION FACILITY IN HEATH
State-of-the-Art Operations, Laboratories Set To Open in 2015

HEATH, OHIO – MISTRAS Group, Inc. announced today it has signed a 15-year build-to-suit lease with the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority which will retain the 130-person operations in Heath and provide for expansion at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center. At a groundbreaking ceremony that included remarks from state and local officials, the plans for the 60,000 square foot new facility were revealed.

A 12-acre site at the southeast corner of James Parkway and Kaiser Drive is the future home for the new facility which will include state-of-the-art laboratory space and heavy cranes. MISTAS handles metals and composites among its non-destructive testing services for the manufacturing sector and the cranes position them for expansion in the future.

“When opened, the facility will be MISTRAS Group’s largest in-house center in the nation. The Heath location is strategically located to serve our manufacturing and oil and gas industry clients in Ohio and surrounding states,” said MISTRAS Regional Manager Tim Emmenegger in his remarks. “This commitment to a new building not only tells our customer base we are here for the long-haul, but it means our employees know MISTRAS is a solid career.”

The Port Authority has issued revenue bonds to finance the build-to-suit project and currently owns the land on which the new building will be erected. Southgate Corporation, under a developer services agreement, is orchestrating the design services for the project. A general contractor will be selected upon the final design.

The City of Heath extended a sanitary sewer line to service the site and approved a 15-year tax exemption to serve the project.

“Needless to say, the Port Authority is pleased that we could make a permanent home for MISTRAS in Central Ohio,” said Port Authority President CEO Rick Platt. “MISTRAS has quietly grown on this campus over the years and today’s groundbreaking shows a strong commitment by the company to the area, its workforce, and its manufacturing and other industry clients. We were glad to put a winning team together to make this project possible.”
