ONTHEBASE.COM DEBUTS
As part of a strategy to embrace use of the
nickname, The Base, to refer to COATC’s original AFB
property, COATC.com has spun off a new web site targeted at personnel and
visitors to the Base campus of the COATC.
The popular Weather Station, WeatherCam,
Project Report, On Target News, and other features of COATC.com have migrated
to the new web site. A new Base
calendar, tenant news, and Base-focused advertising are among the items in the

Retired Air Force Col Joe Renaud,
commander of the Newark AFB through base closure in 1996, has been named
Aerospace and Defense Advisor for Ohio Governor Bob Taft. "Selfishly, this
is good news for COATC, " said Port Authority
Director Rick Platt. "Joe knows The Base, lives in
Tomorrow,
a new state law permitting the licensed carrying of concealed weapons takes
affect. All of the buildings on the Base
campus of the COATC are considered government buildings where state law
prohibits licensees from carrying concealed weapons. The Port Authority sees its responsibility,
dually, as protecting the on-site personnel as well as protecting an unwitting
licensee from carrying weapons illegally into a government building. As such,
the possession of firearms is strongly discouraged on the entire C.O.A.T.C.
