ONTHEBASE.COM DEBUTS

As part of a strategy to embrace use of the nickname, The Base, to refer to COATC’s original AFB property, COATC.com has spun off a new web site targeted at personnel and visitors to the Base campus of the COATC.  The popular Weather Station, WeatherCam, Project Report, On Target News, and other features of COATC.com have migrated to the new web site.  A new Base calendar, tenant news, and Base-focused advertising are among the items in the works.  GO TO:  http://OnTheBase.com

COL RENAUD NAMED GOVERNOR’S AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE ADVISOR

Retired Air Force Col Joe Renaud, commander of the Newark AFB through base closure in 1996, has been named Aerospace and Defense Advisor for Ohio Governor Bob Taft. "Selfishly, this is good news for COATC, " said Port Authority Director Rick Platt. "Joe knows The Base, lives in Newark, and I'm sure will keep us high on his priority list."   GO TO:  http://COATC.com/news/rel040604.htm

CONCEALED CARRY LAW SIGNALS CHANGES AT THE BASE

Tomorrow, a new state law permitting the licensed carrying of concealed weapons takes affect.  All of the buildings on the Base campus of the COATC are considered government buildings where state law prohibits licensees from carrying concealed weapons.  The Port Authority sees its responsibility, dually, as protecting the on-site personnel as well as protecting an unwitting licensee from carrying weapons illegally into a government building. As such, the possession of firearms is strongly discouraged on the entire C.O.A.T.C. campus with signage posted at both main entrances.  GO TO:  http://portauthorityusa.com/policy/index.htm
