PORT AUTHORITY LEADS FLY-IN DELEGATION TO CAPITOL HILL
Local Contingent Brings Public-Private Partnership Message to Ohio Delegation

HEATH –For the tenth year in a row, the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority will lead a contingent of public and private officials to Washington, D.C. to meet with key members and staff of the Ohio Congressional Delegation. The day-long event is set for Wednesday, May 25.

Congressmen Pat Tiberi, Steve Stivers, and David Joyce are among the members of Congress on the schedule. Meetings in the offices of U.S. Senators Brown and Portman as well as the office of Congresswoman Joyce Beatty are also set.

The purpose of the day is to better acquaint Ohio’s Congressional Delegation with the status of key military work at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center and ask for the Delegation to spotlight the value and importance of the Aerospace Center to the nation’s aerospace and defense industry.

“Retention of key workload and strategic plans for modernization of laboratories at the Aerospace Center are top on our agenda,” said Port Authority President and CEO Rick Platt. “The outcome we hope for from the day is a better informed Ohio Congressional delegation that will remain at our side in the efforts to retain and grow the jobs and economic impact at the Aerospace Center.”

Officials from major employers at the Port Authority’s Aerospace Center campus—Boeing, Bionetics, and UTC Aerospace Systems—are attending along with local leaders, including City of Heath Mayor Mark Johns, Licking County Commissioner Rick Black, and Licking County Treasurer Olivia Parkinson.

The fly-in is organized and funded by the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority. Look for Twitter updates that day with the hashtag #HNLCPA and on the Port Authority Facebook page, Facebook.com/OhioPort.
