PORT AUTHORITY LEADS FLY-IN DELEGATION TO CAPITOL HILL
Local Contingent Meets Wednesday with Members of Ohio’s Congressional Delegation

HEATH –For the eighth year in a row, the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority will lead a contingent of public and private officials to Washington, D.C. to meet with key members of the Ohio Congressional Delegation. The day-long event is set for Wednesday, April 2. The purpose of the day is to acquaint members of Ohio’s Congressional Delegation with the status of key military work at the Central Ohio Aerospace and Technology Center and ask for the Delegation to spotlight the value and importance of the Aerospace Center to Ohio and the nation’s aerospace and defense industry.

An 11-person contingent is set to meet with U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, U.S. Representative Pat Tiberi, and U.S. Representative Steve Stivers in their respective Capitol Hill offices. The Port Authority is also hosting an Ohio Delegation briefing with representatives from Ohio’s Congressional offices.

The day-long visit is organized by the Heath-Newark-Licking County Port Authority as part of its caucus-building strategy.

“I consider this day preventative medicine of sorts,” said Port Authority President and CEO Rick Platt. “A better informed and better engaged Congressional delegation is critical to sustaining the jobs and economic impact at the Aerospace Center.”

Officials from major employers at the Port Authority’s Aerospace Center campus—Boeing, Bionetics, and UTC Aerospace Systems—are attending along with local leaders, including City of Heath Mayor Mark Johns, Licking County Commissioner Tim Bubb, and Licking County Treasurer Scott Ryan.
